I have the new macbook (specs in sig) and i was wondering which is better, Quake Wars or Battlefield 2142. I have played Battlefield 1942 and thought it was pretty good.

    get bf2142 i think.

at least people are still playing it! (here in Australia, there doesn't seem to be many active QW:ET players around.)

Quake Wars is ALWAYS packed with people and actually runs well on OS X. It is not cider ported liek BF2142. I'd say get both and support Mac gaming but if your gonna get one just get Quake Wars (and I own both)

I can confirm other Mac gamers on Quake servers. I've been creamed by MacRumors member Bluedoggiant on many occasions.

Both Quake Wars and BF 2142 have demos that are available for Windows

Did you get one yet? Just saw this. I have no clue how it will perform on that system, but as a game I LOVE Quake Wars.

If you didn't already buy, you could try the Quake 4 demo from macgamefiles.com and see how that performs. It uses a very similar engine to Quake Wars. So does Prey which also has a free demo.

(And I have been stomped by BlueDogGiant myself  )

I have not purchased either game yet, but I did try the Quake 4 demo, and it runs very well and is very fun. And I plan on getting Quake Wars very soon.
