in 2023-2024, Apple will be far ahead. Qualcomm CEO needs to know Apple is already working on M2 and M3 Apple Silicon Chip, ?
Of course the chip Nuvia & Qualcomm design will be on par with the expected performance and efficiency of whatever chips Apple will release at that time. They will compete with M3 M4 not M1.

I am worried if Nuvia & Qualcomm manage to make more efficient chips than Apple, we will start trashing Apple again for not innovative, etc. While forgetting that Apple is the one who kick started this whole new paradigm shift.

Also I hope Apple still has great chip designers. There are a lot of news of Apple employees leaving the company lately. I want team Apple to succeed for many years to come :)

This will be really interesting. Perhaps the Nuvia team pulls it off on the dates they say and produce a great chip.

BUT.

What too many forget when they read stories about x person or x team leaving apple is that those people HAD LOTS OF HELP.

OTHER PEOPLE AT APPLE also helped them to an extent we may not know but to say a person or team will produce the same greatness without the other people they worked with at apple and without the apple-like $$ resources.

Well,

Show me.

Until then. Real artists ship.

Apple did and does every day.
While it is true to some extent, key people do exist. Thats why Steve Jobs could helm Apple from Bankruptcy while no one else collectively can. I hope that Apple still have those "key" people that will still make Apple Silicon still competitive for decades, and will also make the new RISC-V or whatever architecture they will adopt in the future competitive for centuries (its a stretch I know, but you get the idea).

By the time Apple Silicon became a phrase, Apple’s designers had been delivering year over year with features and performance increases that provides a history of their ability to deliver. Nuvia is still an entirely unknown quantity that has yet to deliver the first iteration of anything as an actual shipping product. And, whatever they deliver won’t have Apple’s proprietary features like ProRes acceleration, so, while they can trumpet any number of generic benchmarks that may show an edge over Apple Silicon, as those solutions will never ship in ANY Mac, (and couldn’t even be used in a Mac) it effectively doesn’t matter. The main folks that will be trashing Apple are those that do every cycle regardless of how they’re actually doing because that gets click/views/ad revenues.
