I am using Quark 7.1 for layout and have just moved all of my production work to an iMac from a macbook.

When I try to export to pdf, the only option is ALL pages. I can no longer specify certain pages. When I try to key (into the page bar) which page I want to export, the word "All" remains, but the numbers are added onto the end of the file name I have just created.

On the macbook, it works perfectly. What could be the problem?

I tried "migrating" the application files to the imac, but after encountering this problem, I tried reinstalling the software. It hasn't helped.

I would update quark to version 7.3.1 (the latest updates). just go to quark.com and download the updater.

There have been a ton of patches released since 7.1 that you are running.

Quark 7.1 error during export to pdf

Here's another question, now that I've upgraded to Quark 7.3.

I notice that when looking at the Page Layout window in earlier versions, I used be able to easily tell which page I was on (helpful when exporting individual pages)...

In 7.0 it was a problem, but on upgrading to 7.1, it seemed solved, however, after converting to 7.3, the problem is back... there seems to be no visible difference between the page you are "on" in the layout window.

Do you have any idea if they are working on this? Do you have the same problem?

Chris, I just tried to export a PDF and I got an error that will not let me make a pdf no matter what I do. I have Leopard installed, so I don't know if that is the problem or not.

To be honest, I never export directly from Quark (it makes nasty pdfs). I always print to postscript and use acrobat distiller to create the pdf. The pdfs are smaller and cleaner and I have much more success with them. You print directly to the pdf printer as well, but I prefer to use postscript.

InDesign on the other hand creates excellent PDFs when you export them.

    Good Luck.

    PDFS's in Quark

I never use the export option. IMO you should always print to postscript and then run it through distiller. If you do that, you will have no issues with the PDF. If you send it off to a printer or to magazine, they will have no issues running it through their RIP.

    Quark makes ****** PDF's.

It might be a little longer, but it is the best way. You have much more control over your the specs of your PDF.
