Not so much a fan of our Monarchy but she did what she said, served the UK and did it right up until the day before she died. She was all about service, never said a bad word publically and was a role model for the country really.

She will be impossible to follow for Charles and others.

She lived a long happy life. Best wishes to her in the here-after and her family.

As a fan of The Crown, not a criticism, but an observation, my impression is that she made compromises that supported the institution over the happiness of her family, but who am I to criticize that? The institution makes demands that are hard for mortals to ignore. 🤔

She was Queen of my country long before I was born.

She was born in 1926 and wasn't supposed to be Queen, many twists of fate thrust that upon her. She served mine and others country with grace and style. It seems that the greatest monarchs in British history have been named Elizabeth, the first queen of that name would never imagine that her glorious reign would be surpassed by a Queen of the same name, over 550 years later. RIP Elizabeth II.

I hope I don't offend anyone or sound insensitive by asking "BuT WhAT aBoUT aPpLe?" at this moment in time but I feel this is probably the one site where I could actually pose this question...

Do you think Apple will delay the store release date of their new products if it conflicts with next week's funeral plans? At least in the UK?

This is likely going to be one of the most widely watched television/streaming events of our lifetime and I imagine in the UK especially, at least some stores will close or have limited hours until after the funeral.

Not sure Apple wants to have people lining up outside for the usual jumping up and down excited about the new iPhone photos if the entire country or world is in mourning.

Our country will go into a 10 day mourning period.

A lot of businesses won’t be open but I guess all the planned closures and public holiday announcements will be made in the next few days.

London will be full of people and forced into a lockdown of sorts. Things won’t return to normal for at least 10 days from tomorrow.

Nah, civil servants will get time off. Everyone else will likely have to work as usual. It is expected that her funeral will take place on a Sunday.
It is too short to just shut the country down. We may get a public holiday the day following her funereal, but that won’t be a required holiday.
We will likely get a more concrete bank holiday when Charles is crowned.
Sports this weekend maybe postponed, although some think it maybe next weekend instead.
Apart from not being able to turn on the TV for wall to wall coverage, or read a Newspaper, life will be pretty normal for most people.

Oh yeah, parliament will be suspended, meaning Truss may have trouble getting her planned price cap on energy in place before the next price rise, so you know, we will likely get ****ed over in that regard.
As for Apple, it will be business as usual for them.

I hope with her death Prince Harry and Megan can return to some royal duties.

He isn't a prince I'd like ruling, I certainly wouldn't want that jumped up lying PoS that he married ruling our country either, she's a nasty piece of work and he has converted to that style of life too. Good riddance for both of them being in our rearview mirror!

Edit: He isn't even a prince anymore, he lost that right when he gave it up. If anything, America is welcome to the two scumbags. He doesn't hold a light to the Brits and their steadfast attitude. **** Harry.

He wanted a quiet life of privacy, didn‘t he? I think it was only the Queen that stopped him losing more, so will be interesting to see what happens to Andrew now too.

Anyway, nearly 40 years ago I swore allegiance to the Queen, proudly served her and today I am released from that oath. RIP Elizabeth II

No hard feelings on my part, but wow just wow, the negative feelings directed at Harry and Megan, “nasty piece of work” comment, there is a full blown character assassination campaign going on over there.

My wife sees it everyday on Facebook, an absolute obsession over the multi-ethnic girl who stole one of our Princes away, and he who decided the Monarchy was not worth the hostility directed at him and his spouse. Just an opinion, and I won’t be debating this because the conversation will be shut down.

I would not wish being born into royal on anyone. Is it really worth it.

They've already got a whole team working on trying to figure out a way to milk it

Edit: from the feedback, sounds like this is something many are not interested in seeing. Personally I hold no ill will towards them, but I'll back down from my comment.
I doubt it. Despite what the media say, I firmly believe there was no hostility between the family and the couple. The hostility was firmly by our media which is more than a little right wing, and they were putting the racists in our general population against Megan.

I made the same oath just over 50 years ago, I like the way you put it, I must point out that the oath we took also included "her heirs and successors."

I do like the way you put it though and please forgive me, I will probably use it as well at some stage.

Elizabeth played her role perfectly with profound class and indeed majesty. She was good for both England and the world. She will be remembered as a good monarch.

apparently he was not interested in ruling either, he left of his own accord to be with the family he started. family was more important than "ruling", I don't know about you but it seems the loss was yours in that regard. it appeas media (British AND US ) is nothing but fecal matter hell bent on destroying ANY marriage in the spotlight. I don't care of Harry OR Megan but holy fornication, media testing marriages sure leaves a lot to be desired not just from the media but from all the worthles POS people who feed on whatever the stupid media dishes out. not sure if grocery stores in Britain are like the ones in the U.S where you need fishing waders to bypass some of the fecal matter and salacious headlines printed on the "news" magazines at the checkout lines.
back on topic.

it appears you lost a good Monarch and I wish your country the best.

Forever yours. Midget.
