I am looking to buy a used 5s from USA and I can see two models there A1530 and A1533. A1533 is CDMA but from what I read its dual band and it supports GSM too, so I am a bit confused.

Would anyone please clear if it will work with GSM service provider in India like BSNL?

I am looking at this model as its a fair bit cheaper than the other one.

Please help. Thanks for taking time out to read this.

Regards.

your supposed to go there and see which bands you need.

when in doubt, maybe you should buy a 6 or 6s , it has more bands. the older phones were sold in various versions and its confusing. , and the 6 and 6s are world phones and have fewer models

if you go the 6 route, buy the sim free version it has spark channels which wikipedia makes it sounds like you need

cdma phones have gsm and your fine as long as its not locked

however when i went to wikipedia's list of LTE networks it says india ( aircel and airtel) use band 40, so you need the a1530 .

ask BSNL what bands and frequencies they like and buy an unlocked iPhone that matches their info

this is meant as a quick answer. you should probably research it more then i have.

Not too good with this so please can you help, our services run of 900/1800/2100 MHz here (LTE not needed as we don't have proper 3G yet lol). So will A1533 work for me?

Seems to me it should but am confused with the heading LTE band support, these bands only support LTE or they will support 3G/2g as well?

Thanks

iPhone 5s model# A1533(GSM) will work for 100% sure in india for 4G/3G and lower. I not sure about LTE. Last i heard LTE was available only in 1 or 2 cities in india. I have used unlocked GSM iphone in India without issues.

Great.

That means I can get either of A1533 or A1530 and both will work in India?

That's a great thing as there about $50+ difference in price of both when buying used.

according to wikipedia , aircel and airtel need band 40 for LTE but other then that, i think the a1533 would be good enough as long as its carrier unlocked. i wish i knew more.

Ok thanks mate. As I said LTE is not an issue as we barely get proper 3G coverage.

So I believe an unlocked A1533 will be fine for me.

Thanks again.

Yes, A1533 GSM version will work just fine for your requirements. I have and used it India before. I buy only unlocked GSM phones and all of them work fine so far. LTE i can't vouch since i never got LET in the cities i visited.
