Question about 17" iMac screen replacement

Hey all,

I have two 17" iMacs at home and one of the screens has developed lines.

One is a 17" 1.83 GHZ Core Duo (early 2006), MA199LL
One is a 17" 2.0 GHZ Core 2 Duo (late 2006), MA590LL

The screen on the 2.0 GHZ Core 2 Duo has lines - so I was hoping I could swap out the screen from the 1.83 GHZ (since it's working perfectly) and put it into the 2.0 GHZ one since that machine is faster.

Will that work? Are they compatible? Just wanted to make sure before I gave it a try! Thanks.

They will probably be compatable, however the lines may well be down to a failing graphics processor rather than an LCD panel issue.

If the lines are always in the same place and don't appear in screenshots, swapping the panels is worth a try.

Hmmm so no one is certain if they are 100% compatible?

Yes the lines are in the same spot & don't appear in screenshots.

They are the same model with different processors by the looks of it, they should be fine.
