I have the whole Harry Potter series in iTunes. When I opened up the AppleTV application on my Mac, it says 4K Dolby Vision.

When I open it up on my iPhone and AppleTV 4K, it says HD.

Any idea what is going on here? I ported it in from Vudo.

Do I need to purchase it in 4K from iTunes and if so, how would I do it?

My iPhone 14 Pro Max, Original iPad Pro and 2021 iPad Pro all show Dolby Vision. I thought maybe my older iPad wouldn’t show Dolby Vision since it probably doesn’t support it. I’d be tempted to contact Apple Support if some smart person on here doesn’t solve it.

Just curious, when you looked on each device did you make sure you had the ability to play it?
Meaning you were looking at the version you own.

Can your Mac display 4k?

I have the iPhone 14 Pro Max, 2019 MacBook Air, iPad mini 6th gen, 2020 Mac mini M1 and a LG C2 65" connected to AppleTV 4K gen 2.

The Mac mini 2020 shows 4K Dolby Vision when I open the TV application, all the others show HD only.

When I signed into my son's account on the iPad, it showed 4K to purchase. I think I might have to purchase it in 4K through iTunes and send it to myself as a gift. I'm thinking it did not port over from VUDU to iTunes in 4K.

It's just weird my Mac mini showed 4K.

Where did you purchase?
Have a look in your Movies Anywhere library it’ll say which retailer you purchased from.
If you purchased in HD outside of iTunes then you won’t have access to the 4K.
You can get the 4K in one of three ways,
1) Buy the UHD option via Vudu
2) Source and redeem the 4K digital code/s into Movies Anywhere.
3) Gift to yourself via iTunes.

The Apple TV app will show the highest resolution available from the iTunes Store rather than the resolution your own.

Bring up the movie in the iTunes Store and it will show the resolution that will stream.
