I am trying to connect to an airdisk from an remote location. Talking to apple they say the airport only supports afp or smb talking. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of some free apps I could try. Any suggestions would be very appreciated, thanks.

SMB should work just fine on the Windows side.

Windows supports SMB out of the box. The same can be said of OS X.

SMB is supported both by Windows and Macintosh and you could transfer files either way. You can also try FileZilla which is available both for PC & Mac on the net.
