Question About Apple TV HD (4TH Gen/1080p).

I'm getting ready to upgrade my TV (from 1080p) and buy a 4K TV. Can I still use my Apple TV HD (4TH Gen/1080p) with the 4K TV for now? I don't feel like upgrading the Apple TV yet to a 4K unit, plus I hear there is a new one coming out around the corner. I assume I would still get 1080p with the 4K TV but I just wanted to double check before I do this.

I would just use the apps on your smart tv instead of using the Apple TV HD especially if you want to watch 4K content. As for a new Apple TV, there will always be rumors but I wouldn't wait to buy based on rumors.

There is no rumor at all that a new Apple TV is coming.

I would most likely not use any apps on my TV. The Apple TV is far superior to any Smart TV.

Not when you only get HD quality vs 4K from your TV. Obviously the UI will be better on the Apple TV HD, but not the streaming quality.

Yes, I understand 4K is better than 1080p. I'm speaking of the functionality of the Apple TV itself and the hardware in it. Eventually, I would upgrade to a 4K Apple TV, just don't feel like doing it right away.

I'd buy the 4K unit. I upgraded from the HD unit a month or so ago. The new remote is very very nice.

The only reason to do is deal with 4K video! Heck even the standard for tv transmission is going 4K change right now by law in United States!
