I was wondering if you had to get the data plan with the ipohne and if not how much would it be to just have unlimited text and standard minutes

Thanks for the help!

I think this was answered in other threads but it seems as if YES, you need an unlimited data plan ($30) and it seems as if text is NOT bundled in this time so you would have to get the $20 unlimited text plan also... standard minutes sit at 39.99 for 450 minutes.

Actually whether the data plan will be required is still very questionable. The data plan will be required when you get the phone, but there is evidence that you will be able to cancel it afterwards. We will see soon enough.

One piece of evidence is that AT&T just brought back the ability to cancel the data plan online. Why would they do this now, right before the 3G launch if the 3G data plan couldn't be cancelled?

Unlimited texts cost $20 with att. Voice plans start at $40 for 450minutes and go up from there. Data is $30 for consumers and $45 for business.

The iphone will follow the same pricing scheme as the rest of smarphone lineup on att. All the information is available on their site, not sure why have seen so much confusion on this board about iphone pricing.

Even though they will most likely force you to get the data plan at first, if you bitch enough, you could probably get that taken off. But be careful. Most of the apps on the phone require some kind of data usage. You don't want to be paying per use, because it would be worse than just paying the $30.
