I live in an area with no 3g yet,but we are suppose to be getting it in summer/fall. When they put up the towers will they go head and update it to 7.2 to save time or just leave it at 3.6?

I would put my money on 3.6. IIRC, they're not rolling out the 7.2Mb HSDPA towers until 2010. Sorry :(.

O ok thanks for the help, i though i read some where that it was a software upgrade and they were starting it at the end of 2009.

If they put in new hardware, the towers will be left at the new 7.2 Mb/s. Makes no sense leave something half baked and later invest more money and time to re-upgrade it.

However, if the market is too small in AT&T's views, then they'll leave it at 3.6 Mb/s. Still, 3.6 MB/s is a quite faster than many non-cable internet connections.
