Question about ATT / iPhone

Hope this is the right forum to be posting this in...

I'm on a plan with my parents and I'm authorized to make changes on the account, but they are going through a tough time right now and want to take my $70 portion of their bill to help them out a bit, is it possible to change my line into my own account?

And if I did that would it somehow magically make me eligible for a cheaper 3Gs?

1) Unless you ADD a new phone, you have a contractual obligation on your current one and will not be eligible until you otherwise would be.
2) Why not just give your folks $70/month and leave it as is?

It will be much cheaper for you to be on their plan then for you to be on your own. Just offer to pay them monthly.
