Question about Bootcamp and VMWare

Hello,

I am wondering how I can set up my possibilities of running Windows programs on my mac.

Right now I would probably be okay with just using VMWare and running Windows virtually, but in the future it might be needed to be able to boot up in Windows in order to get better performance.

In case I install Windows with bootcamp and after that VMWare, will I then be able to access the files on my bootcamp partition within OSX and vice versa? And will I be able to run a program through VMWare and open files located on the OSX partition?

I hope someone can help me a bit 🙂

Well, Mac OS X can only read NTFS partitions (windows) unless you have a program like ntfs-3g. Windows on the other hand can't see HFS (Mac OS X) at all, you'd have to buy a program like macdrive to get read and write capabilities.

Hmm, maybe I could ask my question in a simpler way..

I mean, is there any cons about using bootcamp and accessing the partition with VMWare over using VMware only? Apart from the fixed size of the partition..
