I would ask ATT this question but I think this forum is smarter than their customer service, so I am starting here.

i'm debating on dropping my my watch, If i do this and decide I wanted this again in the future, can i just come/go with this feature?

ATT did tell me after 60 days I will love my phone number for my watch, but does that even matter since its tied to your ACTUAL phone number on your phone anyway?

I'm assuming they would charge another activation fee, but I believe i get these waived with my work discount anyway.

Thoughts, does anyone "come and go" with there cell service on their watch?

For me, the monthly expense of a watch plan is trivial compared to sooooo many others. I would (and have) cut out lots of other, much bigger, much better “bang-for-the-buck” recurring expenses before I’d cut out the watch.

For example, I’m on campus two days a week. I bring my lunch. Forgetting my lunch a single day would cost me more than the entire month’s service fee for the watch.

I had a flat tire a couple weeks ago and had to take Uber to campus and back. That one round trip probably cost me four months of watch service. This was for an electric vehicle whose only real expense is tires (since we’ve got solar panels on the roof). As I knew, all four tires were past their safe service lifetime … so that day I spent about as much on tires as I would in several years of cellular service for the watch.

But that’s okay, since just a couple gallons of gas in a tank would cost more than a month’s worth of service — and who owns a gas-powered car but only uses a couple gallons per month? Plenty of people have commutes that have them burning more than two gallons per day.

Indeed, I’d probably have to be to the point of looking to sell the watch for cash before I’d think about cancelling the cellular service.

OK?

Thanks for the response but this had nothing to do with my question. Your situation does not equal mine, but i'm happy you enjoy having the feature 100% and see no issue paying for it every month :)

There’s no reason why you can’t deactivate and later on reactivate your watch cell service if you so choose.

I had cell service (Verizon) on my watch for about 1/2 year before deciding to cancel it. I realized I always had my phone with me so just couldn’t justify it.

One thing to consider is whether the watch was purchased through AT&T with a cellular plan. If not, you should be fine to do whatever, but if so, and you’re still making watch payments, they will charge you the full balance of the watch when you cancel the service.

If purchased outright there or elsewhere, you should be fine to do whatever, but will have an activation fee to add cellular again later.
