I normally just let it sit and charge and forget it too. Like Ron Popeil, set it and forget it :p

The question that I had that made me ask today was whether it's OK to let it charge when there won't be enough time to fully charge it.

Now I am just interested in the specifics out of curiosity, since there has been so many different things posted.
Batteries prefer frequent shallow charges than deep discharges.

100-50 and back to 100 twice is better than 100-0 and then back to 100.

And keeping the batt between 75 to 25 is a lot easier on the battery than keeping it between 100 to 50 ... and you get the same number of mAh. See previous graph. Also charging above 80% is inefficient and slow. Especially so above 90%.
A battery will charge from 25 to 75 WAY faster than it will charge from 50 to 100.

Yup, it goes very fast until 80% or so.
