Question about contracts and iPhone 3GS

Right now i currently have the samsung impression through an att family plan. I have unlimited texts and data. Im looking into getting a iPhone 3GS and jail breaking it. I guess my question is.. Will att charge me more for using a jailbroken phone, will they know? Or should i just add it to the contract to save the worry?

if its an att sim then there is no need to jailbrek
