hey guys
i have a question about the dock connector
i got the microphone problem:
people cant hear me
i cant talk to siri
cant record voice
cant hear voice when recording videos
(7+)
i want to replace this by myself but the question is does the dock connector u buy online carry inside also the mic chipset? (u3101) which u just need to changes boards,
or carry just the usb port?

thx

The Lightning flex is just a fancy cable that includes the Lightning connector.

The audio IC (U3101) is a big chip on the logic board.

oh
yeah i saw a video about that.
they use heat to take that chip off the logic board. but i didnt get it why the coin and the yellow wrap
by any chance are u familiar with that procces?

Coin is likely to help dissipate heat and prevent overheating other components. Not sure about the yellow wrap without seeing the video.

for example this video.
they use it in any video.
thx very much for replying btw man.

preston66002425:
the problem is not with the charger. its the microphone.
thats the list of the problems i got becuase of that chipset:
  • Callers can't hear you
  • Voice memos are greyed out
  • Sound doesn't record on videos
  • Siri can't hear you
  • You hear static on calls
  • Speakerphone doesn't work
  • Phone takes a very long time to boot

It's Kapton tape - a good heat and electrical insulator. Basically protects the components during soldering from heat and static.

Is the headset mic still working?

Are u experienced with soldering ICs? If not the chance is 99% you will kill the whole board.
The next thing is where to buy the IC. Do you have a source?
Otherwise buy a broken iphone and swap the boards

JPack thank you for keep replying

bluethooth headset does work. we dont know if the usb headset work cause she lost her connector
i have some expirence with soldering ics
the problem is that the iphone is pretty much brand new. everything works just fine.
but the iphone carrier in my country over charge a huge amount of money to fix this problem. fix that chip
probably almost 50% of its value and 30% of the iphone 8 value

is there anyway buying only this board with this chip inside of it and just to swap boards?
(online of coruse)
thx for trying to help btw. u and jpack

Only used ones like on ebay if you are lucky. as Apple doesn’t sell OEM parts.

The repair cost is unfortunately normal. Apple charges out of warranty $279
