My wife has two sites.....a typepad blog and another site. I would like to map the domain of the other site to the typepad blog. My question is, if I map the other site to the blog, will we lose content (Pages, jpg's, etc...) from the other site? If so, how do I map the site to the blog without losing all the content? Can it be done? Typepad support mentions mapping a subdomain to the other site but I really want to have both combined on the blog site so we can maintain it easier there.

Your comments and suggestions are welcome.

So you want both domains to point to the TypePad site?

That's often called Domain Mirroring. You should poke around in your host/registrar's control panels to see if you can set that up (most will support it).

Remapping your domain name will not touch any files, it's a separate thing, so you don't have to worry about lost files on the server, although they may not be accessible to the outside world if you map a domain away from the location of the file.

So, if I simply go through the process of domain mapping the .com site to the typepad blog, I shouldn't lose any of the files from .com? If I understand it, that means the files stay on the server of the .com site and are NOT transferred to the blog even after the domain is mapped to there, correct?
