I read here (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=77702) that when setting up Gmail on an iPhone, it automatically sets it up as IMAP if you select the 'Gmail' icon.

However, it warns that archiving and deleting messages will work differently, and it says that deleted messages get sent to the Gmail Trash folder and automatically deleted after 30 days. That is actually what I prefer, because I like keeping my mailbox free of clutter.

My question is this: With Gmail setup on your iPhone in this way, is the Trash folder the only folder that automatically deletes messages after 30 days?

    Thanks!

Spam also deletes after 30 days. No other folder should be disappearing in 30 days.

That and spam. Getting folders (labels) set up correctly is a pain in the butt though. Took me quite a bit of researching to figure it out and implement it right.

Ok so its just Trash and Spam that purge messages after 30 days? Otherwise I can move messages to my folders (labels) and not worry about it when Gmail is setup on iPhone in this way?

Correct. I've never lost an email that I put in a folder. It keeps it in All Mail anyway.
