What’s the point of home sharing in iOS 11 on the iPhone? To share my music library from my iPhone to the Apple TV? I can do that with AirPlay anyways if I want to wirelessly play a song on my Apple TV so I’m a bit confused as to why “Home Sharing” needs to be signed in iOS11 on my iPhone in the settings menu with my Apple id, what’s the difference if I log out of it? I tried it and I can still airplay songs from my iPhone to the Apple TV

It’s more like family sharing in that you can share your music associated with your Apple ID with others.

This article from Apple explains the functionality pretty well.

It starts out by saying:

Share and stream content from your computer’s iTunes library to other computers, iOS devices, and Apple TVs. Use Home Sharing with up to five computers on your home network.

Will logging out of “Home sharing” on my iPhone X have a positive effect on the battery life of my iPhone X?

I really doubt it. For Home Sharing it’s the iTunes piece on the Mac/PC doing the advertising/broadcasting. If it has any effect on your X at all, I doubt it will be noticeable. With that said, if you’re not using it and have no plans to use it, no harm in switching it off.

Ok thanks for the info guys, I just logged out of Home Sharing on my iPhone as i don't plan on using it
