Alright I just picked one up on ebay as something to write on and get used to mac. But my question is can I hook my 5th gen ipod to it?? It's not important to be able to but it'd be nice to be able to charge it while I'm out. I still have my pc at home. Also it currently doesn't have an airport card. do I have to install one or will the belkin usb wireless card I have work?

Thanks!

Hiya,

According to apples site you need at least OSX 10.3 and itunes 6.0 for it to sync.

I can't imagine 7.0 will run very well on a tangerine ibook (300mhz), but it should work.

The usb wireless card might work if you can find drivers for it, try the makers website. You might have a hard time finding an apple airport card (not the newer airport extreme), I could only find them for about 100 USdollars.. you might have more luck than me though.

A USB 2.0 wireless adapter might be a problem on the USB 1.1 port with the Tangerine. However Belkins can work with Macs with 10.4 depending on the chip sets.

You'd have to try it out.

You will be able to charge your iPod with the USB port that is on it. The syncing depends on having up to date iTunes and a relatively up to date OS.
