right I got the x on a new contract. However I used a temp number until I transferred my number across to my new carrier.

The temp number was used with iMessage for a short time until my number got transferred via PAC code

When I go to iCloud the number I have linked to my iMessage is the temp number. Will iMessage still come through properly even though it says that number on iCloud even though my old number is transferred over to my new phone?

Turn off imessage, turn off the phone, take out the sim.
Turn the phone back on, put the sim tray in and then turn on imessage.
Then select your phone number associated with that sim card. Your old temp number should be gone.

Ok but should texts still come through on my new number Witt that old number stored?

You're confused and just confusing everyone with confusing questions.
That temp number is gone/done. Your sim now uses your regular phone number that you want to use correct?
Go to settings/messages/send & Receive.
What is listed there?
Did you restart the phone and remove the sim?

Shouldn’t be confusing as the number on iMessage was not the one I have now.

I took out the sim and switched off iMessage and FaceTime and it worked. Issue was I had to switch off FaceTime as well for it to find the correct number

Thanks for your help though.
