So I have a really dumb question:

I have an iPad 2 on its way at the end of the month, and I wonder about this 10 hour battery life. For current owners of an iPad--do you leave it on all the time like you would your iPhone and just let it sleep when you're not using it, or do you always turn it off? If you just let it sleep all the time and never power it down, how long does the battery last you?

Put simpler: Do you shut your iPad down or do you just always let it sleep?

Always let it sleep. But dude, do you really need to bump a thread after only 14 min?

I never power down my iPads...just put them in sleep. I'm easily getting 2 days of pretty heavy 3G internet use, playing games, with a little video thrown in and a few app downloads before my iPad 2 hits about 20% battery and I recharge it. My iPad 1 has been sitting in sleep mode for a week and it's at 98%.

I didn't even get the 3G model, so it sounds like I will almost never need to power down. I plan on using mine for my 2 1/2 hour round trip commute every day. I will be downloading video from iTunes at home to watch on the train and will also use it as an ereader and maybe for some gaming. But there won't be any data going back and forth on the train--only when I'm on wi-fi somewhere. Sounds like I should get a lot of life out of the battery.

    lol :)

    ditto
Yeah, I get about the same usage out of mine. (3G here too). It loses about 15% an hour I've noticed when viewing high quality MKVs from iTunes, but still 7 hours of straight video usage is wonderful :)
