It looks like there are two speakers built into the bottom of the iPhone 4S. Are they supposed to be stereo? Not that I would sit here listening to music just by the built-in speakers alone, but I ask because I was watching a video clip and I covered the right speaker opening by mistake and all the sound cut out.

So I got curious and tried a couple songs and videos and it seems that there is sound coming only from the right side speaker. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

There [still] is only one speaker (on the right side).

A quick search will reveal the same queries dating back to 2007. :)

(It's also in the user's manual.)

The left side contains the primary microphone (there's a secondary mic next to the headphone jack used as part of the noise reduction system).

Okay, thank you. I forgot about the mic.
