Question about iPhone 8 pre-order

I realize that the iPhone 8 is available now for purchase, I was just wondering if anyone remembered if the unlocked iPhone 8 showed as an option pre-preorder/just after the announcement. I know that you could pre-order the unlocked version, I just don't remember if it showed as an option before preorder night. I'm just trying to figure out if the X will be sold this way as well. Thanks for any help!

The sim free unlocked version showed up as an option right after the announcement. I wouldn’t count on the X being the same way since it’s the more “premier” phone and I’m sure the carriers have an agreement with Apple, but who knows.
