I currently own an iPad Pro 12.9" from 2018, with the first gen magic keyboard (I believe that keyboard was released on 2020).

I know the iPad Pro 12.9" from 2021 was slightly thicker, but people still were able to make the 1st gen magic keyboard work with the M1 iPad Pro.

I'd like to buy a M2 iPad Pro 12.9" (2022). I´m asuming the 1st gen magic keyboard will still be compatible, right?

Or do I need to buy the 2nd gen magic keyboard for the M2 iPad Pro 12.9" if I want to use an AMK with it?

I use the first gen Magic Keyboard on my M1 iPad Pro (2021), even tho it's officially not compatible. I don't have any issue. The tolerance is high enough to use with the M1 iPad Pro, so its should be no different for the 2022 iPad. That said, because it's slightly thicker, I wouldn't use the first gen magic keyboard if you intend to put a screen protector.
