Question about missing icon

I used to have an icon on the bottom of my desktop that looked like a spring with an "@" symbol or something. Anyways, it's not there anymore. What is that, and how do I get it back?

Thanks for your reply! I tried doing a search but I guess I wasn't using the right keywords.

No problem...FYI, I searched for "spring" and "icon" and pulled up several threads addressing it. Learning how to use good search terms is definitely an acquired skill.
