iPhone 7/Plus Question about my wife's iPhone 7 plus

I got my wife the 7 plus recently mainly for the 128GB but she liked the larger screen as well. My daughter has the 8 plus, and her texts looks like hi def pics from the Better Homes and Gardens magazine whereas my wife's 7 plus texts looks like the same old fashion balloon texts.

Is there a setting I can change to get it to look like my daughter's 8 plus? When I compare the resolutuion specs they're identical. Thanks.

can you post some screenshots for reference? i didnt understand your question well!
 
I don't have my daughter's phone at the moment. I just remembered my granddaughter works at an Apple storte - I'll ask her. Duh!
 
TrueTone on the 8 will make the entire screen look different some of the time (usually will make whites look slightly red/orange), but doesn't change the content of the screen.

tpcollins, do you mean that the same picture / text looks bigger and clearer on your daughters phone OR do you mean that the same app (you mention texts) look different (your wife has the green/blue cartoon balloons around the words and your daughter does not)?
