I searched about this online but got mixed answers.

I plan on purchasing a new iPad online and choosing in-store pick up. I also want to use their GiveBack option to trade-in my old device. However, I do not want to use their mail in option, I would rather trade-in when I pick up my new device.

Since the new iPad will already be paid in full via my credit card, I am wondering if the trade-in value will be added to the cost of the iPad purchase and will it be refunded to my credit card? Or, will I have to accept it in the form of a gift card for a future purchase?

Also, can you trade-in two devices at the same time and put it towards one new purchase?

From my experience, it seems that Apple's system determines which trade-ins will require you to mail in your trade-in device. For my husband's Apple Watch, they were able to take it right away in store. When I got mine though, they informed me that a box was being mailed to me for my old one and it arrived a couple days later. These were different stores and sizes, though, so I'm not sure if those factor in or not. The person at Apple said that it tells them when they go to process the pickup.

After the trade-in has been completed either way, the value will be returned to your card. Both took a couple days after received to show up on my card. I believe Apple only allows you to trade in one device for each item you're purchasing.

I ordered mine online for the in store pick up but didn’t choose the give back trade in yet. After 1 week wait then I took my iPad Pro 10.5 to the apple store and traded it in for the credit to go into my debit card that I used to purchase the iPad Pro 11. Didn’t had to mail it in.

You have to mail it in.

no you don't. you can totally do a trade in at the apple store for iPads. I just did one a week ago

as for the two questions, I was allowed to do two items, an iPad and an iPhone. I don't know if they would let you do two ipads or two phones however.

and yes when I did my pickup they gave me the trade in back to the credit card I used for my purchase. I had to have the card and my online order number.

I traded in a series 3 watch at the apple store , got a gift card for it then ordered the series 4 watch for in store pickup using my iPhone while in the mall. Had to order online in order to get veterans discount and used the gift card towards it. Had lunch while waiting for in store pickup to be ready. Took about 45 minutes.

Anyone know if the in-store trade-in value for the 10.5 iPad Pro is the same or different from the online trade-in value? When I started to checkout at Apple.com for in-store pick up it said the in-store trade-in value may be different? Why?

If you order online and start the trade-in process you have to wait for the box and mail it in. Once the serial is activated for trade the stores can not do anything with it. If you order online and don't start the process you can pickup in store and then trade in your old device.

When you trade-in at the store, they do a superficial inspection of the case to make sure it's in good shape. I assume, if the case is damaged, you might get a lower credit.
