Hi
I look all over the net about info in how to connect different cpu card like gtx, some need only 6 pin connector, others need a 6pin and 8pin and some just 8pin, my question is when need a 6pin where draw the power?, when it 8pin where plug it? and when it both same question. i read it not a good way to take a mini 6pin to 8pin. I am confuse between all cable pin and power needs.. some on know the safe way to plug? I want a gtx1060 and it say it need a 400w power computer, but mac pro is only 300w. i saw most card require a 400w.

The GTX 1060s that I am familiar with come with either one six pin connector or one eight pin connector. Both will work just fine on a cMP. I assume you are speaking about the 5,1 cMP, since you didn't specify. For one six pin connector you will need one mini 6 pin to 6 pin cable, like this:

Plug it in to the the MB (plug A) as described below:

For one eight pin you will need two cables as described above, plugged into plugs A & B on the MB and an adapter like this:

The MacPro has a 980W PSU, not 300W, 300W is just the total power available for those 4 PCIe slots. And there is another 150W for the 2 mini 6pins, and another 530W for the CPU, RAM, HDD..... GTX1060's power draw is nothing for the cMP. The cMP can actually drive a TitanX without assist from any external power supply.

Ahh ok ty, iam not a expert in electronic i try to figue out how it woks. ty flowrider for the pics.

i find a cable that can replace the 2x mini 6pin to 6pin and the dual 6pin to 8 pin for a 8pin card here the link: https://www.moddiy.com/products/App...8%2dPin-Video-Card-Cable.html?setCurrencyId=4
correct me if iam wrong but this can replace all the 3 cable for a 8pin card? or you think that cable is not safe because it a mod?
