I'm thinking of buying Airport Extreme card for iMac G5 and I noticed one very cheap option but seller says that it is meant for PowerBook G4 and it does indeed have ribbon cable. It seems however that there is regular connector under the ribbon cable so my question is that can this ribbon cable be removed and can the card be used in iMac G5? It looks the same as the cards I've had in the past, except for the ribbon cable.

The ribbon on the Powerbook's cable is permenitly attached to the card. You need a regular Airport Extreme card.

So you mean there's no option to use knife or something like that and break off the cable? Are those cards different? The part number A1026 brings up regular cards when Googling.

Very sure it doesn't come off. A knife won't do it. It's held on with very strong glue and attempting to remove will damage the pin traces underneath it.
