I have a 2015 MBP retina, one of the thunderbolt ports is flaky, Do i need to put the original hard drive back in before taking it in for repair? It came with a 512gb drive but i upgraded it to a 1tb.

Thanks!

Apple shouldn't care. I recently had to have a new top case due to a exhausted battery. I would have normally switched the SSD to the original when I took it in but I didn't expect them to be able to do the repair immediately and so it had a Transcend SSD installed. They never mentioned it and did the repair.
