Should do. Depending on the card. Unofficially the 6 pins can supply plenty of power beyond what most RX580s need. Even though they're "rated" for 75 watts of additional power, the wire gauge used etc. is good for more than that. I wouldn't try to go crazy with overclocking or anything though.

Something to note: When I did this with my Nitro RX 480 and a mini-PCI to 8 pin it worked, but when I started BF1 in Windows and the card went to 100% GPU usage the card would draw to much power from the mini-PCI 6 pin and my cMP 2010 would reboot.

To fix this I got a 2x mini-PCI 6 pin to 1x PCI 8 pin.

Depends on which RX580 you are running. But it's much better to share the load between the two available mini 6pin. There is no point to keep one of the mini 6pin idle but overdraw the other.

I just did this and bought a dual mini 6 pin to 8 pin from eBay. Works a treat
Two of them?!

Wrong, you need a Y-shape cable, merge both mini 6pin output to a single 8pin input.
Shoot okay.

How much improvement would I see by upgradin my GPU to a AMD RX580 GPU? Do your GEEK BENCH scorews improve? I have a Mac Edition GeForce GTX680 now runnig very well with a boot screen.

I moved up from 680 to 580. Loving it. Fast rendering with fcpx.

GPU can not improve CPU processing power.

If you were asking the GB CPU benchmarks, it won’t.

But if you mean the GB OpenCL / Metal test, then yes, it will improve a lot from GTX 680.

Yeah, even though I personally prefer the Nitro+ more (becasue has dual ROM design, safer for flashing. And has better cooling). But I end up still got the PULSE. Stick to a dual slot card, and the exact recommendation from Apple.

P.S. the “flashing” is just for fine tuning the card (mainly downvolt), not for providing boot screen. There is no Mac EFI for RX580 yet.
