Personally I thought it was an ill-chosen wallpaper for an official Engadget review, seeing as how 8-bit ends up being all jaggy.
Don't get me wrong, I love 8-bit art, but if you're trying to show in hi-res photos how NOT pixellated the screen is, an 8-bit wallpaper in the background is going to make a less-educated user go, "Huh? I see pixels."
It is a neat wallpaper though - I just thought he should've chosen something better for the photos.
