Question About The New 3Gs Phones & Your Original #

Hello, first let me say this is my first post on this board. I have been reading on here for the past couple of months and figure I would finally join. My question I got is if I upgrade my plan from my normal 3G iPhone to the new 3GS iPhone can I keep my same phone number?
