Question about unlocked AT&T iPhone6+

If my AT&T iPhone 6+ is unlocked, it's possible to use it with a T-Mobile account right? Will there be any issues with compatibility? Also, is there a way to check to see if my iPhone is unlocked?

I should have clarified the second question a bit more. Any way to check if my phone is unlocked without having a T-Mobile SIM on hand? Hopefully the reps at the store will be kind enough to allow me to check before purchasing one.

No other way to be 100% besides sticking any other non att SIM card.
I'm sure the reps will let you test it out for a minute, how else would you know if you can use their network?
