Question about upgrading an MBA

I'm looking to buy the new MBA 13 and want to upgrade to i7 and 8gb.
Thing is, I have to buy in store because I have a gift card for £450!

Does anyone know what the process is when upgrading parts on a new Mac?
Apologies if I'm being naive, but will they stock MBA with i7 processors and 8gb ram, or will it be special order?

call the store and ask if they have them in stock.

They should have the 512, i7, 8 GB but thats probably the only one they have outside of the stock 128, i5, 4 GB models.

If you call Apple (not the retail store, but Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE) they should be able to order your custom config for you with the gift card applied. I may be wrong about that, but I did that several years ago with another product. Hope that helps!
