this might sound stupid, but i'm going to ask it anyways.

is there any negative effects (is it harmful) of hooking up computer speakers to my 12" powerbook through the headphone jack?

i don't see any other jack that would be used to output sound on my PB..

in any case, i don't want to damage my pb.. so please let me know! thanks!

maybe i'm a stupid person then. in any case, what's the answer?

i believe in taking precautions. i don't want to damage my notebook.

It is a stupid question. If you're so paranoid, why don't you leave your notebook in its box, instead of potentially damaging it by plugging things into its ports and pushing on its keys.

please excuse MyMemory. He is a bit...direct...sometimes.

Anyways, to answer your question:

You can plug your computer speakers into the headphone port without any trouble. It is 2.1 sound, unfortunately, but if you dont have anything better than 2.1 (2 speakers, one subwoofer) you should be A OK.

If you have more than 2 speakers, you may have to find a USB 5.1 sound solution, of which I cannot think of any off the top of my head, but Im almost positive they exist.

thanks g5orbust. i appreicate the answer.

i guess i was concerned since it was a 'headphone jack', or so it seemed, so i didn't know if that conflicted with anything. :p
