Question about using Macintosh on a TV

I have a cord i just hook up straight from my PowerBook to a TV. Is there anyway I can keep the display settings the same as when I'm not using a TV on my laptop but get them to change on the TV so people can see it on the TV clearly?

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. If your TV isn't high definition, it's going to look cruddy on the TV no matter what you do...the resolution of the TV isn't high enough to display all the pixels of your laptop.
