I use the Text/Edit a lot but it's annoying if I want to switch from one file to another. Normally I have to close the file I'm on and then go back to the dock and reopen Text/Edit. Is there a way to go from file to file without closing and starting all over again? Thanks.

Hi,

right click the TextEdit icon in the Dock shows a list of the recents files.
If also shows a list of the open files.

You can open / switch them from there without having to close the current open file.

Or you can do from the menu bar : File / Open...

To switch between the open windows : Cmd + `

If you have a Track Pad, you can also access your documents with a four-finger down-swipe. I discovered that by accident today.
