I’m getting my phone battery replaced. I know I need to back my phone up before dropping it off, do I also need to unpair my watches? I don’t want to lose any activity data.

Won't hurt to un-pair but.....if you do you can't use your :apple:Watch's data while your iPhone is gone. When you re-pair it will start again from the un-pair point.

Also it does a current read/backup of the :apple:Watch when you do an iPhone backup. So the :apple:Watch will be up to the backup you last make. Plus you can use the :apple:Watch and when you get your iPhone back it will sync all activity.

Thanks, that what I was hoping. I did a backup before handing the phone over and have been glad of the watch in the meanwhile (elderly mother home alone with heating that’s prone to cutting out). Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly if I do need to restore from the backup. (Fingers also crossed for the new battery meaning I’m rather less reliant on carrying external battery packs around!)
