What are your current service providers at home? How much you all pay a month for internet and who are you all with? Comcast, Verizon Fios, DSL, DIAL UPS?

I am asking this because I feel that my iPad wi-fi is slow.

I get this speed, but my wi-fi iPad seems to be still below average speed.

17MB down

And

15MB upload..

I pay 55 dollars a month to Verizon Fios.

i have 10 megabit down and 1.5 megabit up, cable connection. BrightHouse issued cable modem --> Linksys WRT600N brooadcasting N only with DDWRT. I also have a WRT54GL which broadcasts G for legacy support.

I connect to the 5ghz radio on the 600n.

I have done some research and the iPad will only connect at 65mbps, even on a 40mhz channel.

Make sure your wireless network is configured properly. What are your settings?

I am able to max out my internet connection with BitTorrent. Using the speedtest app for the ipad, I average 8mbps, but have seen as high as 9 and recently as low as 4.5.

Shaw cable. 15mbps down, 1mbps up, $30/month. Netgear WRN3500L running Tomato as the router and AEBS n-only in bridge mode as the AP.

whoa. 30/mo for a 15mbps connection! I envy you.

edit: ooh i guess i get the shaft cause i'm in the US.

Not really. It's only $30 because I threatened to leave them at a time when they were having lots of defections to rivals. Normally it's close to $50.

I feel like I am in the dark ages with my specs.

$45 per month, Earthlink DSL, 6 MB / 512 KB, Linksys WRT54GL running ToFu 13c

Backup DSL is AT&T, $15 per month, 768 KB / 128 KB. Westell router / modem.

Metro Atlanta, GA, USA

Time Warner Cable/Road Runner Turbo, $45/mo, it's supposed to be 15Mbps, but I average anywhere between 20-25 or so down and 1Mbps up. Hooked up to my AEBS I just got 28 last night 🙂

Check it out.

I use the 3G connection from my motoroloa droid, tethered to my iMac through pdanet. I then use the Internet sharing feature in osx.

Boom, free wifi in my apartment for my iPad.
