I saw once where someone did a ****** but changed the name of the website to just "Link" which kept it disguised until the person clicked on it. Is there a way to change the name and still have it open up as the original ******? Thanks.

I'm just going say that we do not permit people using that in their posts in any form, you may not be asking for that purpose

If you highlight a word and click the hyperlink icon in the web editor, you can paste a long URL in like this which links back to this post.

Much cleaner that https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/question-about.2113710/#post-25958280. I suspect a nefarious character could link to something evil. If you hover over the link, it will show the URL at the bottom of the page or in a tip so you can "inspect" before clicking.

Thanks, it was nothing nefarious, it's the "**************************" trick. I'm on a couple hunting forums and we enjoy jabbing each other. Thanks.

I don't know why it turns it to stars but maybe I can Google it! ;)

Well MacRumors consider it trolling as it has no redeaming value of helping members, rather its intended use is to annoy them.

I don't know why it turns it to stars
That's because MacRumors has put that into its profanity filter and replaces the words with asterisks. So people try to circumvent this by using url shorteners, just to keep using it here at MacRumors. They then get a loving notification from one of the hard working, underpaid and incredibly good looking moderators :)
