iPhone Question - Back up

Once I purchase the new iPhone X on iOS 12 - I just want to ask a quick question. I don't want to restore from back up - want to use as fresh is there anyway to get my photos on my new iPhone without the backup or is that the only way?

When you sign in to the device with your Apple ID your photos will be there. Photos are synced with your Apple ID.
