Hi, I searched long and hard for answers to this question, but surprisingly couldn't find anything.

My 3G battery lasts for about 5 minutes of calls, it obviously needs to be replaced. Someone gave me a cracked and nonfunctioning 2G that evidently still has good battery life?

Can I simply take the battery from the 2G and put in the the 3G?

It will not work. The battery is soldered on the Original iPhone, and squished on the 3G.3GS. You could use a 3GS battery to my knowledge
