Yes. Any MBA can be run with one external monitor and the native display.

Two externals only clamshell. New m4 sometimes next year will be able to do 1+2.

Just trying to have options. I do have an M1 MacMini with dual Dell 27" screens. I don't like to be stuck in my bedroom MacMini work station all day and set up in another part of the house. Just got a MacBook Air 15 inch M3. I do have a small portable LCD scree . Now that you have helped me think it through the small LCD with the MacBook Air as an alternative set-up would probably be the way do go! Many thanks.
