Wearing jeans and owning a Plus sized phone isn't a good match at all. The pockets are too small and tight. I'm not a fan of carrying a Plus phone in a back pocket anyway. There are plus phone friendly pants that ideally have 4 pockets in the front.

I have a plus and I don't have trouble with the size really. It fits in the breast pocket of a dress shirt when need be, it is noticeable but not uncomfortable even with modern jeans.

Of course, there is also a huge difference in cases and whatnot. If you carry it naked or in a small-ish case (apple leather, silicone, etc.) vs. some behemoth otterbox monstrosity it's a lot better.

What's great about apple products is that they're so popular you never look out of place with them. Having a phablet in your pocket is normal even in a white shoe firm. Same is true for Apple Watches at this point. Not that insecurity about that stuff makes sense in the first place, but it helps.

I had an iPhone 7 Plus and then got the X. I do enjoy the smaller form factor with a big screen on the X, but I find myself missing the width of the Plus.
I may or may not get the XS Plus. I will have to try it out first.

I've had a 7 Plus since launch day and honestly, you will only find it huge on the first day you use it, it's super easy to get used to it and super nice to have if you really use your phone a lot.

Back when I got it, I was in a place where I really wanted to have the optimal user experience and it gave me that, but I don't think I will be getting the X Max this time (unless it comes with some killer feature). I know the X is basically a longer screen non-plus iPhone, even though it's got the inches, it's so so noticeably smaller when you launch something like the camera app because it's much narrower.

The 7 Plus isn't that bad in terms of pocket friendliness, however you do feel like you have something large in your pocket all the time and when you sit down you basically have no choice but get the phone out of your pocket and that's not really the case with the X.

It’s not always comfortable to carry a larger iPhone in your pocket. However, this is Not exactly on topic with my next point, but that’s why the Apple Watch LTE has at least allowed me to have some freedom tethered away from Carrying my iPhone with me at all times.

I don't buy that.

I’ve had a Plus for two years (first a 7 Plus, then an 8 Plus) and intend to upgrade to the 5.8” iPhone Xs. All of the form factors have pros and cons but for me personally, the cons of the Plus are starting to outweigh the advantages. The main issue i’m having is the weight of the device and the strain it’s putting on my right wrist - much more noticeable with the 8 Plus.

This is what I'm probably going to end up doing as well. I hadn't really considered weight of the phone; my 7+ was fine but the 8+ pushed me out of my comfort zone. I would consider getting the 6.5 XS if it weighed less than the 8+, but I feel like that's unlikely. Battery life for me is definitely noticeably better on the Plus sized devices but I don't have personal experience using the X.

Erik, On top of that, And you can still carry/have room for a hammer with the loop.
Yep. Maybe it's just me, but I've got no issues with jeans.

Hell, I've taken to Dickies cargo jeans now and those have no side pocket. But the back pocket does just fine. I've got plenty of room.

I tried the 8 Plus for a few days before getting the X. I found it to be too heavy and I didn’t enjoy using it, but the battery life was better by about 2 hours. I am happy with the X but I wouldn’t mind a bigger battery.

I went from a 6S Plus to an 8 Plus and like previous posters, found the 8 Plus to be too heavy to use comfortably for very long. I tried the X but found it too narrow and didn’t get on with OLED so have now got an 8. I’d love a phone (no home button) with a screen the same size and ratio as the Plus phones but it’s not going to happen.

I currently have an iPhone 7 and had a 6S prior to that, and am very happy and comfortable with the relative footprint and size of the phone.

However, I use my phone, a lot, to where I'm constantly using up my battery and worrying about whether or not my phone will make it through the day, and I'm talking about right out of the box battery at 100% capacity.

So, given that I use my phone as much as I do and battery life is a significant concern, it occurred to me that the Plus versions really accommodate both of these needs well. You get much more screen real estate, presumably giving you a better user experience, and obviously a much bigger battery that should get anyone through the day.

I will be upgrading to the iPhone X here in the next few weeks, and I have just started contemplating whether or not I should go for the for the 6.5" (Max) version versus the current 5.7".

Finally my question, for those current Plus owners, have you found the size and footprint of the phone to be too unwieldy and big when carrying around in shorts and jeans pockets? Obviously I like the idea and thought of using a larger phone, but I'm not sure if it's just a royal pain in the rear to haul that big thing around. I've grabbed the Plus phone in stores, but obviously have never had the opportunity to carry one for any period of time to know, so I'm curious what you current Plus owners have found, good, bad, or ugly.
I have a 6+. I carry it by hand. When I do place in a pant/short pocket, you can clearly feel the size and see the impression of it. Eye comfort is important to me so I choose a Plus and will be upgrading to the X Max.
