Howdy Folks,

I was wondering if someone who has one of the "new" 16" MacBook Pros with the Radeon Pro 5600M GPU would check something? As it is the only thing that is "new," I am wondering if it is considered a "new" model or not? I just ordered a 2019 16" MacBook Pro, which was built on 25 May 2020, and it definitely shows as a (16-inch, 2019), with a model of MacBookPro16,1. Does the new one show (16-inc, 2020), or perhaps even MacBookPro16,2? Thanks!

How can you check the build date? New owner here myself.

Go to your about this mac, click on the apple logo -> about this mac

I'm guessing it will still say the same (16-inch, 2019) because the new Radeon Pro 5600M is BTO option, But i'm curious also.

So based on this, it sounds like the "new" 16" MacBook Pros are a new "model," but still classified as a 2019. Based on EveryMac (and my own MacBook Pro), we have the following

MacBookPro16,1 - 2019 16" MacBook Pro (mine is a CTO and has Core i9 and 8 GB 5500M)
MacBookPro16,2 - 2020 13" MacBook Pro with 4 TB 3 Ports
MacBookPro16,3 - 2020 13" MacBook Pro with 2 TB3 Ports
MacBookPro16,4 - 2019? 16" MacBook Pro with 5600M

It seems the 2019 models of the 15" and 13" are al. MacBookPro15,x

I wonder if this means there are other changes between the original 16" MacBook Pro release, and the new MacBookPro16,4?

Thanks!

much lower temperatures with external monitor come to mind. Did they tinker with the cooling or the card can handle that much more?
