When I tried the new Pros in the store, I was surprised that the screen had a bit of a texture. One of the things I love about the old ones was the smoothness of drawing on the scree. How do you feel about the change?

Very strange. It's not my imagination - I found an article online that was about Apple taking the new ones to Disney animators, and they noticed it too. Maybe it was only in the early models?

I’ve seen reviewers mention the new pencil and iPad having more drag, but I haven’t noticed it. Maybe it depends on how light of a touch you have?

The only time I have noticed it the slightest bit is in a teaching session when I was drawing on a whiteboard on my 2017, set the pencil down, and immediately picked up the new pencil to annotate a pdf on the 2018.

I haven't noticed it. On the 1st gen IPP we often got the screen protector to add tooth. With posts about the screen not registering the pencil properly, I've held off on a screen protector for now.

That "texture" is dried up saliva, hand grease and more you dpn't want to know about,
you can probably get some great stool samples from Those screens 🙄

I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I really like the feel of the pencil on the screen for drawing. It’s a bit slippery for note taking, IMO. Definitely not too much texture, and I’d be happy if it had a tiny bit more.
