What is your next step? Are you going to wait for the software update or return the phone and re-purchase it after it is fixed? I pre-ordered it, so my deadline will be coming up in about 2 weeks. J/w what others are doing.

Please, if you plan on replying by telling me to do a search, just save your time and move on. Thank you.
 
my first iphone 4 had the proximity sensor issue, the replacement i got does not have it.. this leads me to beleive it may be a hardware issue, but who knows for sure?

I wish I knew what to do. My preordered iPhone is pretty much trouble free, except for the proximity issue which is driving me nuts. I was hoping a software update would fix it, but I am just not sure.
